Deaths:
We are saddened to report the deaths of Joe Pack and Angie Partain's sister, Brenda Ray.
Joe died at home last Monday evening; funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Thomas McAfee Mortuary, with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Our love & prayers to both these families during their time of loss and sorrow.

Fall Retreat:
Two passenger vans departed from Guthrie Grove after school on Fri. en route to Appalachian Advent Christian Campground near Blowing Rock, NC. We miss our many youth & chaperones who are absent today, but are thankful for this opportunity. Thanks to Telva Elwell for organizing the Fall Retreat as to all who are participating. ETOA back at the church this afternoon is 3:30.

Blood Drive:
Thanks again to all who contributed (25-30 units) to our recent AnMed Blood Drive. Guthrie Grove congregants benefit from the Blood Assurance Program.

Sister's Act:
Thanks Sister's Act, for cleaning the kitchen last Tues. evening; your efforts are appreciated. All ladies are invited to the next Oct 23rd meeting at the church.

Adelle Chandler:
The Adelle Chandler Ladies Circle will meet at the church Tues, Oct 2nd (7 pm). Linda Smith will serve as hostess & welcomes all ladies of the church to attend.

Bible Reading:
How about reading through the New Testament this fall? Pick up a daily Bible reading schedule on the entryway table, mark your progress & complete reading the N.T. before Christmas. Speaking of Christmas, it's 92 days away!

Choir Practice:
Choir practice will soon begin, in preparation for this year's cantata: The Hope of Christmas to be presented Sunday evening, Dec 16th.

Board Meeting:
At last Sunday's board meeting Joe James was re-elected as Board Chairman and Danny Durham as Vice-Chairman.

College Care Packages:
The Sunday School Department will once again send College Care Packages to our college students. Please give names and addresses to Sherry Alcumbrack or Carol James.

Song Service:
Plan to attend the 6 pm Sunday, Oct 28th Special Song Service with our brothers and sisters in Christ from our area churches. If you wish to provide a musical special see one of the pastors or musicians in the weeks ahead.

FYI:
Unconditional opened in theaters last week & is billed as an inspiring,faith-based story which encourages moviegoers to make a difference. Also,Nov is National Alzheimer's Disease/Caregiver Month. A "Walk to End Alzheimer's" is planned at Greenville County Square on Oct 20th and a free presentation on Alzheimer's warning signs/caregiving will be given at Beth Israel Congregation, Greenville on Nov 11. (Call 250-0029)

Silver Crescent:
Dr. Wayne Fowler (Brother to Ruth Bagwell) was recently honored with the Order of the Silver Crescent: 1 of the highest civilian State awards of South Carolina. Fowler has served as an exemplary citizen & educator for more than 40 years. Ruth, you taught him well!

Junior Church:
We welcome our children from Junior Church this morning. Our Jr. Church Leaders (and many of our helpers) are both attending the Fall Youth Retreat.
