Welcome to Guthrie Grove Church of God; we are glad that you are here. This is the Advent Season.  Advent, a Latin word for coming is a time to prepare our hearts and minds for the birth of God's Son Jesus, as well as to look forward to His glorious Second Coming.  The flame of each new candle on the Advent Wreath reminds us something is happening-but something more is still to come.

The Dream Center:
59 gifts were delivered this past Monday to the Dream Center of Pickens County.  Director Chris Wilson expresses her sincere thanks to Guthrie Grove for helping to bring joy to many needy children this Christmas.

A pair of earrings were lost at last Sunday evening's cantata; please give them to Pastor Mike who will return them to their rightful owner.  Thanks.

Attending last Sunday evening's cantata were all the daughters of Merle Saylors-   Alta, Glenda, Diane, Runette, Verena, Karen and Denise.  We appreciate all who attended, as well as those who brought refreshments for the fellowship.   Special thanks to Thompson Smith for ordering/delivering the fruit and to all those who helped fill the treat bags that were distributed after the cantata last Sunday evening.  Thanks to Bobby Partain for making special deliveries to those who were unable to attend the choir's presentation this year.                                        There are still some beautiful Christmas Bookmarks left over from the cantata bulletin.  Pick one up if you didn't already get one, or if you would like to share a bookmark with a friend, neighbor or family member.

If you ordered a Poinsettia in memory or honor of a loved one, please take it home after the worship service this morning, or after the Christmas Eve Service.
According to Ask the Garden Doctor, give Poinsettias bright light and allow them to slightly dry between watering.

Tonight Bethel Church of God will present their Christmas program (6 pm). There will be NO adult evening service at Guthrie Grove; all are encouraged to attend Bethel's production at the special invite of Pastor Kyle Casey.

Christmas Eve Service:
There will be a 10 pm Christmas Eve Service at the church; make plans to attend this time of singing Christmas hymns, reading of Scripture, lighting of candles, etc.  See Sherry Alcumbrack if you have questions.

Men's Retreat:
The Carolina Conference Men's Retreat is just a month away.  There are nearly 40 individuals who plan to attend.  If you have ideas for the retreat, please speak to Pastor Mike.  Guests will need to supply their own sheets/sleeping bags and bring pillows, towels, and blankets.  If you haven't signed the sheet, you can still attend, but see Pastor Mike as soon as possible. Bonclarken Conference Center (Flat Rock) needs the number of rooms and number of guests eating meals by January 1.  The theme for the retreat is Mighty Warrior.
Approximate cost for the 2 night (Cottage-style) stay & 5 delicious meals is $50.

ReFUEL (Those in grade 7-adult) is Jan. 16-18.  Interested in attending this Camp Mack event? (See a youth leader or contact Jason Railton-574-993-4956) The cost is $100 if registered & paid by Dec. 29.  This year's theme is Interior Design.
"We appreciate the cards and well-wishes we've received this Christmas Season.  Thanks for the love & support that we feel all year long.  We wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and God's blessings at Christmastime and always."  Sincerely, Mike, Myra, Paige & Jennie

Christmas gift suggestions:
"To your enemy, forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to a customer, service; to all, charity; to every child, a good example; to yourself, respect." (Oren Arnold)

Every good gift & every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. (James 1:17)
