Welcome to Guthrie Grove Church of God.  Many have expressed their joy in the cooler temperatures, reminding me of an old, but familiar, chorus.  “It’s a happy day and I thank God for the weather.  It’s a happy day and I’m living it for the Lord. It’s a happy day and things just couldn’t be better.  I’m living each day by the promises in God’s Word.”  Thank you God for your great and precious promises.

Concerns and Celebrations of the Congregation

Call to Worship ~
This is the Day

This is the day (Repeat) that the Lord has made.(Repeat)
We will rejoice (Repeat) and be glad in it.(Repeat)
This is the day that the Lord has made.  We will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day (Repeat) that the Lord has made.

In His Time
1. In His time, in His time, He makes all things beautiful in His time.
Lord, please show me every day, as You’re teaching me Your way, that
You do just what You say in Your time.
2. In Your time, in Your time, You make all things beautiful in Your time.
Lord, my life to You I bring, may each song I have to sing be to You a
lovely thing in Your time.

Next weekend is the Southeast Youth Retreat (“What an Awesome God We Serve”). If you haven’t registered, see Director Telva Elwell at once. The retreat will end with a noon meal on Sunday.

As we have advertised the past several Sundays, members are being sought for a Study Committee to investigate the needs and possible solutions of future physical facilities. If interested, or for more information, see Elder Joe James.

We appreciate all who helped out with last Sunday afternoon’s Sunday School Picnic. Well over 150 individuals enjoyed the fun, food, & fellowship.  The winner of the Pie Contest was Margie Lanford (Deep Dish Apple), while Cory Shaull took home top honors with her Lemon Ice Cream.

Pastor Jim is compiling a list of our college students and addresses, which he hopes to make available soon.  If you know of a student who is living away from home and haven’t been contacted recently, please speak to Pastor Jim.

Trunk or Treat at Guthrie Grove will occur on Oct. 31, from 6-8 pm.  We need YOU to participate in this safe, family-friendly activity.  Come in costume (Not too scary) & bring a carved, or decorated, pumpkin for our contest.  We need LOTS of trunks, as well as donations of candy, toys, etc. for prizes.  If you have special ideas for games/activities for our young people (And those in our community), please contact Pastor Mike or Jim.

Two classes will be offered at Atlanta Bible College beginning Oct. 13.  Sean Finnegan is the instructor of “Why I Believe”, while Dr. Alva Huffer will teach “Systematic Theology I”.  If you wish to sign up for one or both of these classes, contact Registrar David Krogh at Atlanta Bible College.

We appreciate the work that Ashlynn, George, & Hunter Jordan have done to improve the children’s playground at the rear of the church.  Thanks for your efforts, & thanks to all who contribute in many ways to the work of the Lord.

Reminder:  We are always looking for individuals to write devotions, as part of our Website and Media Ministry.  If interested, contact Mike Smith.  Thanks Mike, Eugene, Sara, Milton (and others) for the work you do in promoting the church & gospel message.
