Our Father, who art in heaven
hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.

Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom

Submitted by GGCOG Admin on Fri, 03/23/2012 - 2:11pmWelcome to Guthrie Grove Church of God; we're glad that you are here. At this special time of year we focus upon the death, burial and resurrection of God's Son: our Lord and Savior Jesus. The saying, "It's always darkest just before dawn," certainly was true for Jesus. Imagine the sorrow as He was arrested,abused and led away to be crucified. Oh, but the joy of resurrection: "He is not here; He is risen, just as He said He would!"

I'd Rather Have Jesus
I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold; I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or lands; I'd rather be led by His nail-pierced hand
Refrain: Than to be the king of a vast domain and be held in sin's dread sway;
I'd rather have Jesus than anything this world affords today.
I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause; I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I'd rather have Jesus than worldwide fame; I'd rather be true to His holy name
(Refrain)
He's fairer than lilies of rarest bloom; He's sweeter than honey from out the comb;
He's all that my hungering spirit needs; I'd rather have Jesus and let Him lead
Jesus is the Joy of Living (Chorus only)
Jesus is the Joy of Living, He's the King of Life to me; unto Him my all I'm giving,His forevermore to be. I will do what He commands, me, anyway He leads I'll go.
Jesus is the Joy of Living, He's the dearest Friend I know.

December 11, 2011
Submitted by GGCOG Admin on Fri, 12/09/2011 - 3:10pmWelcome to Guthrie Grove Church of God. Today is the 3rd Sunday of Advent; ‘Advent' (From the Latin ‘Adventus') means ‘coming' and we are reminded not only of Jesus' humble birth to Mary in Bethlehem-but also of His future 2nd Coming as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. How appropriate that we light the Candle of Joy on this morning that we enjoy the children's performance of Starry Night, Noisy Night.

Today marks the 2nd Sunday of Advent 2011. ‘Advent' (From the Latin ‘Adventus') means ‘coming' and we are reminded not only of Jesus' first coming: His humble birth to Mary in Bethlehem-but also of His future 2nd Coming as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The 4 purple candles on the wreath stand for hope, peace, joy and love and are visual reminders that light & life will ultimately triumph over despair & death.
